Newly elected Zanu PF Dangamvura-Chikanga member of parliament Mupfumi has made a passionate plea to MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai to provide government with the "keys to the economy".
Mupfumi told Parliament in his maiden speech that government should walk-the-talk in the provision of essential services to the people.
"A few weeks ago, Tsvangirai declared he has keys to the economy. We urge him to give us the key. I urge Parliament to ask Mr Tsvangirai to give us the key so that we can open the economy of this country," NewsDay reported.
"They (opposition leaders) do not want to proffer solutions to ensure that our country moves forward, but are merely saying that the country has gone down the drain and that Zanu PF has failed to run this country."
Zimbabwe's economy has been in a tailspin since the turn of the century when President Robert Mugabe's government unleashed former liberation war fighters into white-owned farms.
The move led to massive industrial haemorrhage as well as capital flight followed by the collapse of the local currency.
