MDC-T leader Morgan Tsvangirai's property at his Highlands house was literally saved by the bell after a stay of execution was obtained to deter the deputy sheriff who had come to execute a court order.
49 Kew Drive was the scene of drama on Friday morning as the deputy sheriff carried out an order to attach Tsvangirai's property.
MDC-T lawyer and spokesman Obert Gutu pleaded with the deputy sheriff to delay executing the order but the deputy sheriff would have none of it and used a bolt cutter to gain entry before attaching office furniture and television sets.
The attachment of property was only stopped midway on the merit of a stay of execution.
"We are actually deeply disappointed by what happened at Harvest House and at Highlands," said Gutu.
The MDC-T a party that was founded by a labour movement is refusing to pay 13 employees who were dismissed.
The workers are owed varying amounts of money ranging from US$38 000 to US$48 000.
