The MDC-T secretary general Douglas Mwonzora has said the fact that the party has indicated it is preparing for the 2018 elections does not mean it has abandoned its electoral reforms agenda.

"The fact that the MDC-T has started its preparations for the next elections is not an abandonment of its electoral reforms agenda," said Mwonzora.

"The MDC-T is going to push Zanu PF kicking and screaming to implement the electoral reforms that are likely to see a free and fair election. However we are not going to wait for those reforms to start our preparations. In other words, while preparations are ongoing the struggle for key electoral reforms will be intensified."

He said these reforms are meant to ensure the secrecy of the vote, the security of the vote and the security of the voter.

"They include a transparent voter registration exercise, the removal of all security agencies from the electoral process, removal of violence and other electoral malpractices, equal access to the media and outlawing of the abuse of food aid as a political weapon among other things," said Mwonzora.

"Zimbabweans are urged to unite to ensure the implementation of these reforms. We will win.Victory is certain."
