Harare council face pressure to replace suspended town clerk

Pressure reportedly mounted in the Harare Council chambers on Thursday during a full council meeting for the local authority to replace the suspended town clerk Tendai Mahachi.

Harare residents trust revealed the development indicating that reports from town house indicate that there was heavy lobbying to find a replacement for suspended Town Clerk Dr Tendai Mahachi.

"Municipal officials say the whole process is being manipulated to suit agendas of certain officials," said the trust.

"A new town clerk must be selected on merit and not partisan considerations. Harare deserves a high performer who has capacity to achieve the World Class City status by 2025."
