AS the nation of Zimbabwe faces serious economic down turn, the Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions has questioned as to when the government of President Robert Mugabe would reduce the bloated cabinet, reduce entrenched benefits of the senior civil servants, trim the entourage of Mugabe and reduce his international flights.
The ZCTU is of the view that these are squandering the fiscus.
ZCTU secretary general Japhet Moyo said when is government going to reduce the bloated cabinet.
"When will it reduce entrenched benefits of the senior civil servants, trim the entourage of the President, reduce the flying hours of the President, remove pensioners from payroll and respond publicly to the Auditor General ' s report?" he asked.
President Mugabe has had more than 15 international trips since he returned from his annual leave in January much to the concerns of the people that his trips were gobbling millions of dollars of a nation which is struggling to pay its workers and service all its financial needs.
