War veterans and graduates from the National Youth Service, also known as the Border Gezi militia or green bombers, yesterday joined hundreds of employees who stormed some parastatals in Harare in protest against the mass dismissal of workers at State entities.

Hundreds of fired Grain Marketing Board (GMB) employees who were objecting to the company's decision yesterday picketed at the parastatal's offices and depots in Harare demanding their outstanding salaries.

However, the workers were locked out by the time they arrived at the offices. Like most other parastatals, GMB reportedly employed several graduates from the National Youth Service.

Those affected said they were not impressed with the manner their party, Zanu-PF, was handling the matter.
