The Electoral Court has ruled that a registered voter can lawfully stand as a candidate as an MP even if they are not registered in the particular constituency vied for.

The Court also ruled that a criminal record was not a reason to bar one from contesting in an election.

The rulings was made by Justice Chinembiri Bhunu during the pre-trial conference held in a matter in which Temba Mliswa is contesting the election in the Hurungwe West by-election which were won by Keith Guzah who is said to be not registered in the constituency and has a criminal record.
