MDC-T Secretary general Douglas Mwonzora has said Zanu PF has been so much fractured following its flawed national congress which saw some senor members such as former vi9ce president Joice Mujuru to lose their position.

"The MDC is the people's party and its values and objectives remain on course to form a government that will usher a fairer society with equal opportunities for Zimbabweans irrespective of political affiliation, creed, colour, gender or religion," he said.

He said in pursuit of those objectives, this is why MDC is the only party that has congress mandate from its people; against a ZANU PF selection process aka congress which left it fractured and exposed of their rhetoric as an ergo centric party devoid of serving the people of Zimbabwe.

"Zimbabwe continues to be in the media for the wrong reasons; one it is the only country with highest internally displaced persons (IDPs) and Diaspora in Southern Africa both in peace and war of our times, secondly it is the only vendor economy in the world," he said. "The rate at which jobs and livelihoods are lost, the national doom is real and glaring at us all, the investment climate remain dire amidst unfavourable fiscal and public policies, add that to a flawed election process and an illegitimate outcome; and finally how do we deal with an alien culture of violence?"

Mwonzora said MDC recognizes that over 3 million people left their country not of their own making but because of a government of fear, the absent of rule of law and the economic meltdown.

"While we are not part of the problem, we believe we are part of the solution, this is why I speak to you on a tour to engage Zimbabweans where ever you," said Mwonzora. "As a people driven party, we believe the power comes from the same people and that consultative process is the only logical strategy to get a people power. We are not simply leaving any Zimbabwean out, and on record the party president Morgan Tsvangirai has repeatedly called upon all stakeholders to come to the big tent. Indeed we have seen; progress in this regard as many people long left and new coming in unison to sing on the same hymn sheet."

He said furthermore resolution 4 of the MDC congress on 1 November 2014, call upon the party to engage Zimbabweans where ever they are as stakeholders of party think tank.

"I therefore call upon all Zimbabweans where ever you to come along and sing along to future determination of our country, meeting head on the greatest governance challenges of our times," he said.

"On gender parity MDC remain the only Zimbabwean political party ever to have reserved a 50:50 quarter system to leadership posts in our constitution, and we are on course to fulfil that mandate, for we believe that women rights are human rights. Family values remain the pillar of MDC party and in that pursuit we are the only party with family friendly policies, safeguarding our heritage and culture."

Mwonzora said on party structures, the MDC of 2013, is no longer the party of today, at congress you selected a new leadership.

"It is part of our constitution to renew or confirm our leadership after every 5 years, in the same spirit lets all support the new leadership in a united front," said Mwonzora. "We also recognize devolved decision process this is why the congress resolved to give all members at lower organs to be able to choose a candidate of their own and not necessary to be chosen by the district or provincial leadership as was the case before. This is to ensure transparency, accountability and democratisation of our party, the first ever to do so." Mwonzora said all over the world, political parties are funded by the membership and well wishers and MDC is not an exception.

"Actually we recognize that these are economic challenging times for all Zimbabweans, with no prospect of jobs and free fall economy but we believe that as Zimbabweans we can come together and support MDC party both in cash and kind to make a meaningful change and start a true road to economic recovery," said Mwonzora. "There is a price to every struggle, however, the longer it takes the far greater the price, and in that we call all Zimbabweans to give generously to the party of excellence as we prepare for the final leg of our struggle, 2018 general election."

Mwonzora said the leadership is listening, the recruitment has started, the funding appeal is ongoing, we want you all to come to the big tent, and MDC is indeed a party of equal opportunity.
