Siblings fight for Sadza

A Mutare man was left nursing serious injuries after he was flogged with a log by his angry brother for eating his left over Sadza.

Manica Post reported that Mike Meki was fined $100 by senior Mutare magistrate,  Sekai Chiundura after he pleaded guilty to assault charges.

Prosecuting,  Donald Mudadirwa, said Mike after having spent a day out with his older brother, Fungai Meki (28) rushed home and ate the latter's leftover food.

Upon arrival, Fungai asked Mike why he was eating his sadza. This did not go down well with Mike who grabbed a 1,2 metre long log that he used to flog his brother on the right arm and left leg.

When asked why he had assaulted his elder brother over his own food, Meki told the court that his actions were justified, but failed to give reasonable justification.

"I acted lawfully by assaulting him because he had provoked me," he said without any remorse.

Fungai sustained wounds on the right arm and left leg, but was not medically examined.
