The Prosecutor General (PG) Johannes Tomana has started processing papers for the extradition of the American dentist Walter Palmer who killed Cecil the lion in Hwange.
Environment, Water and Climate Minister Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri confirms the development saying the PG is working on the case.
According to the American law, an individual requires 100 000 petitions to be extradited and for the petition to be sent to the president.
In the case of Palmer, over a million petitions are now in place.
Minister Muchinguri says Zimbabwe is not against legal hunting, adding the killing of Cecil was illegal.
According to information from Hwange, Cecil the lion was initially shot with an arrow by Palmer.
He later killed it with a bullet two days later while the animal suffered a slow and painful death.
