Redcliff municipal workers defrauded in funeral insurance 'scam'

Some Redcliff Municipal workers are crying foul alleging that their employer deducted money from their salaries towards a funeral insurance policy that proved to be scandalous.
According to one of the employees interviewed by this reporter, but requested anonyminity, her salary has been deducted by the municipality since 2010, but since her child passed away, she has never received anything from the funeral insurance policy.
"When I contacted the insurance company (name supplied) they said that they had never received any money from the Redcliff Municipality", she alleged.
She further alleged that the municipality is still deducting money from her salary towards the funeral insurance policy.
She says when she approached the municipality's Human Resources department, she was told that she would only get a refund once they (municipality) received a confirmation letter from the funeral insurance company.
"This all doesn't make sense. All the employer is doing is trying to play tricks and not re-emburse me", said the worker.
This reporter interviewed several Redcliff municipal workers, who all concurred that this is what indeed was happening regarding the funeral insurance policy.
Efforts to get a comment from the Redcliff Town Clerk Elizabeth Gwatipedza were unsuccessful at the time of writing this article, as she was said to be in a meeting.
