A woman from Mutare was left with no option than to seek a protection order against her boyfriend's wife who continuously insulted and threatened her.

She approach Mutare Civil Courts seeking protection against her boyfriend's wife. She described the woman as abusive and violent.

Janet Masodzi and Patricia Marange appeared before Mutare magistrate, Mrs Anniah Ndiraya, with the latter claiming that the former was abusive as she was in the habit of visiting her house disturbing her peace.

"I am tired of being harassed and insulted by her. I now need the law to take its course. I no longer want her to come to my house because she is disturbing my peace and I want her to stop speaking to me," said Patricia. However, Farai Masodzi denied marrying Patricia and said she was his girlfriend.

Patricia fired back and said Farai was her husband and was the one taking care of her. "He is my husband since he is the one who is paying my rentals as well as putting food on my table.

"If he is now claiming that I am not his wife, he is exposing me more to his abusive wife," said a bitter Patricia. In her ruling, Mrs Ndiraya advised Patricia to seek for a peace order and not a protection order.

"Seeking for a protection order is not proper since you are not customarily married to Farai Masodzi, but I am advising you to seek for a peace order," said Mrs Ndiraya.
