The Minister of Welfare Services for War Veterans, War Collaborators, Ex-Political Detainees and Ex-Restrictees, Chris Mutsvangwa has announced the new provincial chairpersons for the war veterans association for eight provinces.
The Manicaland and Matabeleland South provinces' structures are still yet to be announced due to some challenges faced during the electoral process on Saturday.
Announcing the new chairpersons at a media briefing in Harare following interim executive elections held this Saturday in all the country's provinces, Mutsvangwa, who is also the National Chairperson of the war veterans, said the new structure resembles the proper leadership of the war veterans associations.
Mutsvangwa congratulated those who were voted into office, saying the association is now mandated to come up with economic and business models to support the new leadership.
The new chairman for Harare Province is John Guta, Mashonaland East (Daniel Sigauke), Midlands (Virginia Mpasu), Matabeleland North (Samy Mguni), Bulawayo (Cephas Ncube), Mashonaland West (Conilius Muoni) and Mashonaland Central (Wellington Chitewe).
Mutsvangwa appointed an interim committee for Manicaland Province after the challenges faced during the electoral process in the province.
The interim executive is led by Gift Kagweda as the chairperson.
Matabeleland South province results are yet to be announced as they are at the verification stage.
