Companies must not just dismiss workers as they are doing, says Mugabe

President Robert Mugabe repeated that 'the law is an ass' and called for the urgent amendment of the Labour Act Act which has triggered an avalanche of job losses in the country based on the recent Supreme Court ruling on termination on three months notice.

Speaking at the National Heroes Acre in Harare during the Heroes Day commemorations, Mugabe said the law disadvantages some sectors, promising that amendments to the Labour Act are underway to ensure fairness for both employers and employees.

"Companies must be served by dedicated, loyal and hardworking workers, and at the same time, companies must not just dismiss workers as they are doing."
