Douglas Mwonzora the MDC-T secretary general and Theresa Makone the party's treasurer general made a surprise visit to the Zimbabwe Vigil supporters in Londan at the Zimbabwe house, media has reported.
Mwonzoraand Makone, reportedly passed through the Zimbabwe house from a successful constitutional update at the Fabian Society when they suddenly dropped in at the Embassy to talk to Vigil supporters.
A press release states that they were accompanied by officers of the MDC's UK province: Owen Muganda, Secretary, and Sibongile Sihwa, Vice Chair. Ms Sihwa warned us against CIO infiltration and said it was paying big money to undermine opposition groups. The Vigil is all too well aware of the CIO's tactics. Mwonzora addressed the Vigil and spoke of reforms wanted by MDC-T, including the diaspora vote. This drew cheers from Vigil supporters.
Mwonzora is currently visiting party structures in the UK accompanied by party treasurer Makone and other senior MDC-T officials. The travelling group attended a fund-raising event by the party's Oxford branch at the last weekend.
He also discussed engaging the international community, and explained what his party's plans to do about the current job losses as well as working with officials expelled from government and Zanu-PF for allegedly plotting a coup against President Robert Mugabe.
Mwonzora and Makone's engagement with the Vigil and UK structures has been greeted with delight as many observers see it as a positive development following the previous leadership's decision not to recognise the UK as a province.
Mr Mwonzora lamented the state of the economy where all workers had been reduced to vendors because of company closures, with investment in Southern Africa now going to Mozambique, Botswana and all other countries.
