The calls for the Zimbabwean working people to come together to confront the government are mounting following the wave of job loses which have gripped the country in the past one month after the Supreme Court ruled in favour of Zuva Petroleum company that it can fire workers on three months pay notice.
Political and social commentator Ngqabutho Mabhena said in the last 3 weeks, over 18 000 workers have lost their jobs following the Supreme Court judgment. Last month, the Zimbabwean government refused to pay 3000 teachers claiming that they were not at work when inspectors visited their place of work.
"Now, Finance Minister Patrick Chinamasa says , teachers should be paid half their salaries during school holidays , claiming they will not be at work," Mabhena said.
"As Marxist , we call for the unity of the working people of Zimbabwe . Tough times lie ahead. The regime is now been remote controlled by the imperialist to suffocate the working class and the poor, while they plunder our God given resources. Our minerals are enough to pay all civil servants and improve the material conditions of the poor people of Zimbabwe. Let us build workers power to build a democratic and socialist Zimbabwe."
