Kuligan, the other half of the popular duo Kuligan and Kalabash that rocked Zimbabwe with hits such as Pukunyu was found dead in Chiredzi on Wednesday a week after he had gone missing.
The chanter's body was reportedly found lying face down in an advanced state of decomposition near a railway line amid claims that he was murdered.
Long time music partner Kalabash confirmed the death of Kuligan who was born Kudakwashe Kanyimo.
"Yes, he is dead. He was found dead at a railway line near the ghetto. He was reported missing a week ago when I was in Harare working on the theme song for the forthcoming Chiredzi Arts Festival.
"I am sure he will be buried today (yesterday) because the body is now in a bad state. I am currently at the cemetery where they are digging his grave.
"He will be buried in Tshovani at a cemetery known as Kumarimba. His rural home is Chivi but because of the decomposing state, he won't be taken there," said Kalabash.
Kalabash told the Daily News that Kuligan, who was also a teacher in Triangle, reportedly last spoke to the headmaster of the school where he taught.
"He had gone to the headmaster's office, looking for transport to go to Chiredzi to a pharmacy to get his hypertension medicine. He was told that there was no car leaving for Chiredzi, so we think he tried to walk or hike. When he did not return home his wife started trying his phone and it was not being answered.
He added that after days of circulating messages on the social media, looking for him, the answer only came a week later from the police.
"He was found 10 kilometres away from Tshovani surburb. So far nobody really knows what really transpired but he had a cut on the wrist, showing that he had lost a lot of blood.
"There were shoe laces near his body and we don't know who used them and what they were used for. He was discovered on Wednesday by a railway worker who informed the police," said Kalabash who has promised to compose a song dedicated to his late friend.
He is survived by his wife and two children, Kufahakurotwi and Tadiwanashe.
