AILING national passenger carrier, Air Zimbabwe, could resume flights as early as next week as it has been given a financial lifeline by government of a substantial but undisclosed amount to cater for workers' one month salary.
The amount is coming from government through the Ministry of Transport, Communication and Infrastructure Development.
It will help the struggling airline to make part payments to some of its creditors.
The re-routing and refunding of passengers has already begun.
However, planes are yet to get back into the skies with expectations that flights might resume next week after the pilots receive the money.
The impasse between Air Zimbabwe and its workers has derailed efforts by other sectors of the economy, especially the tourism sector.
Acting Air Zimbabwe Chief Executive Officer, Innocent Mavhunga confirmed the developments saying the money which was availed on Friday last week will be accessed this Saturday.
He could however not reveal how much money was released.
