Land barons appear in court

Seven land barons were yesterday charged with fraud after they sold land meant for primary school construction.

The seven were released on bail and ordered not to visit the land in question, and to surrender their passports.

The group allegedly formed Ebenezer Housing Co-operative in August 2012 and fraudulently obtained a council resolution which purported that Harare City Council was in support of change of land use from that of a primary school to residential.
