Harare residents condemn demolition of illegal homes

Harare Residents Trust has condemned as unconstitutional, the demolition of illegal homes by Harare City council after the land barons parceled a lot of stands illegal to the people.
Harare Residents Trust said on house demolitions the Zimbabwean Constitution in terms of Section 74 under Chapter 4 - Declaration of Rights says, "No person may be evicted from their home,or have their home demolished,without an order of court made after considering all the relevant circumstances," said the trust.
Dennis Mudzinganyama agreed with the trust saying, "Our constitution but what are you doing to the people affected besides just quoting the clauses of constitution."
Harare Residents Trust said the constitution must be applied to all people and institutions.
"When you become a member of the HRT you will be more informed about what we do, but at this stage, you are not well informed. Become a member and experience what we do," he said.
Harare City council has demolished numerous houses built at un designated areas.
