Senate yesterday passed the controversial Labour Amendment Bill amid chaotic scenes that saw MDC-T senators walking out of the Upper House in protest against Zanu-PF's refusal to accept any amendments.

The Bill  which seeks to stop the ongoing labour carnage that has seen over 20 000 workers laid off within a month was passed without MDC-T senators' input after the main opposition party on Tuesday failed to influence any changes to the law in the National Assembly.

MDC-T legislators wanted several amendments, among them a review of a clause that deals with compensation for retrenched workers, before President Robert Mugabe signs the Bill into law.
