8 000 report land barons to police

More than 8 000 people have filed cases with the police implicating land barons that have been illegally selling State and council land. Police are calling for more people to bring their cases forward.

Sources said more than 8 000 people mainly from Harare South had made reports to the police.

Some of the people who reported included those whose houses were demolished recently, those duped by the land barons and those settled on land unlawfully.

Progress in the investigation of 15 suspected land barons arrested recently had slowed down as complainants were not coming forward to report.
