Govt looks to formalize 'makorokoza'

Deputy mines minister, Fred Moyo, has said government was pushing for amendments to the Mines and Minerals Act, which will be tabled in Parliament this session, regulating the small-scale miners by urging them to formalize their operations.
He said government has supported small scale miner despite the question of legality regarding their operations.
It is believed that small scale miners contribute 25% of the total monthly gold production of 1500kg.
