Harare City Council has been asked to probe two housing officials whom residents accuse of illegally taking over residents' houses in Mbare and collecting bribes.
Harare Residents Trust called for the probe of the two council officials.
"The City of Harare must totally investigate the conduct of two identified officials in the Housing and Community Services Department at Remembrance Drive, who are both accused by several residents of being behind the illegal takeover of residents'; houses in Mbare, and the receiving of bribe money from desperate housing cooperatives through the production of a dubious letter which reportedly costs US$150 if a housing cooperative wants to be given the recommendation letter to be taken to the ministries responsible for housing cooperative registration," the trust said.
"This issue requires serious investigation."
Of late Harare has been flooded with cases of illegal land selling and houses scandals amid the calls for a probe of the crimes.
