The Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority is in the process of introducing an Online Booking System.
Th authority made the revelations through its FaceBook post. "The Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority is in the process of introducing an Online Booking System," the authority announced. "This will allow our clients to process their own bookings from anywhere in the world as long as there is internet. The system will also allow for credit card payments direct to the Authority with instant confirmations being received. The new system automatically generates e-mail alerts with details of your booking."
Zim Parks said this is part of the Authority's effort to bring efficiency in terms processing accommodation bookings.
"The previous system was resulting in double bookings. It is our intention to ensure that the upcoming system will address that problem," the authority indicated. "Please be advised that the system is being introduced in phases with the first phase being only accessible by the Zimparks Central Booking Office, thereafter various stations/parks will follow. This is to allow us to test the system's performance prior to launching public access. We plan to open up the system to our valued clients by the 1st of December 2015."
"We would like to advise our clients that the pricing system will migrate to unit pricing, therefore most campsites which were charged per person will now be charged per unit/site as was the case in Manapools and Hwange," it added. Zim Parks said the unit rate will cater for maximum of 6 people and any extras to pay per person on arrival.
"However we have left some facilities being charged per person to cater for those clients who do not travel in groups and these sites are booked direct with the respective stations/parks. Meanwhile, clients are requested to make bookings by emailing bookings@zimparks.co.zw . Please note that once the online system is fully operational a 48hr payment period will apply whereby bookings not paid within that period will automatically be cancelled," said Zim Parks. "We are also appealing to you, our valued clients to bear with us during this development period as you may experience interruptions and delays in the processing of your requests with particular reference to the opening of 2016 bookings.
