A CRUEL hubby instructed another man to rape his wife so as to find a way to divorce her, a court heard.
The two, Kington Taengwa (30) and Archford Tirivangani (21) were arraigned to the Harare magistrates' court where they faced charges of raping the latter's 17-year-old wife.
The State, led by prosecutor Editor Mavuto, alleges that on September 3, the woman went to her hubby, Archford's residence, saying that she was being ill treated in Mutare where she was staying. Circumstances suggest that instead of her being received by her hubby with open arms; she was greeted by one big question. It is claimed that she was asked what she was doing in Harare and during that same evening, she is said to have been taken to Kington's house in Glen View 7.
Further allegations are that both men left her in the room and went outside where they discussed her 'divorce package' as it were. It is said that they planned that Kington was supposed to rape her in the absence of the hubby, Archford. Reason why the men were planning to do this was because Archford wanted to get rid of her, accusing her of being a prostitute.
Shocking enough, the men agreed to put their plan into action, and the woman was left with Kington. Kington is said to have told the woman to sleep on the sofa, but during the night, he is said to have woken up and started caressing her.
She is said to have tried to scream but Kington increased the volume of his cellphone, thereby drowning the woman's cries and he raped her. She later shared her ordeal with someone before she reported the matter to the police leading to the arrest of the two men.
