Zanu PF MP for High field West Psychology Maziwisa has praised President Robert Mugabe on his State of the Nation address which he said was formidable despite the wide condemnation by political analysts and opposition political parties who said the veteran leader was just rewinding his old ideas into the present day challenges. Mugabe made his State of the Nation address on Tuesday amid his booing by the opposition MDC-T MPs.
"Despite protestations to the contrary by members of the opposition MDC-T, President Robert Mugabe delivered one of his most formidable state of the nation addresses," said Maziwisa.
"He entrenched his position as a socialist leader and outlined a series of practical policy announcements which formed the foundation for an inevitable economic take off."
He said President Mugabe did not just go to Parliament to tell the people of Zimbabwe that he was aware of their plight. He went to tell them that he was doing something about their challenges.
"There was a genuine humanity about what he had to say," he said.
"Of course the MDC-T being in opposition will have a thing or two to say against President Mugabe's speech, but i dare say that Zimbabweans got the point yesterday - that President Mugabe is a leader who is on their side."
But the political analyst Pedzisai Ruhanya said, "I understand that Mugabe has several degrees he earned in jail. Perhaps he should receive a new PhD on the fastest way to increase vendors on the street, and on how to kill an economy and cause hardship, (Yamamoto)."
