ICFJ and Gates Foundation launch HIV Prevention Reporting Fellowship

The International Center for Journalists (ICFJ) will relaunching a fellowship which will include Journalists from Botswana, Ethiopia, Kenya, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Rwanda, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe are encouraged to apply for this fellowship.
ICFJ said the deadline for the applications for the fellowship is staled at October 19, 2015.
"The International Center for Journalists (ICFJ), in conjunction with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, is accepting applications for the HIV Prevention Reporting Fellowship," ICFJ said. "This opportunity is aimed at better equipping journalists with the knowledge and skills to report on Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision (VMMC) and its implementation as an HIV prevention method."
ICFJ said twenty finalists will take part in a four-day story lab in Nairobi, Kenya, in February 2016.
"The lab will include briefings on VMMC and HIV prevention, as well as sessions on journalism skill-building, site visits and one-on-one mentoring sessions," ICFJ said. "Fellows will then have two months to complete a reporting project, while working with ICFJ mentors throughout the process. The authors of three best stories will take part in a study tour in the United States in late 2016.
The deadline is Oct. 19."
