Accident wipes out family of 6

Six members of the same family died in a horrific accident when the Nissan truck they were travelling in side-swiped with an Audi sedan at Mavise turn-off along Harare-Masvingo highway near Mvuma town on Saturday.
A Chirumhanzu Rural District Council employee, Charles Nyika died on the spot while his wife, three children and a grandchild died upon admission at Mvuma Hospital.
The Audi vehicle, which was Harare bound, had two people believed to be husband and wife on board, and the two sustained minor injuries.
According to eyewitnesses, Nyika who was driving a council vehicle turned into the highway ahead of an oncoming vehicle resulting in the sideswipe.
Nyika is alleged to have encroached into the left lane while attempting to turn right in front of an oncoming vehicle.
The vehicles sideswiped and veered off the road before overturning.
Nyika died on the spot, while his wife, three children and a grandchild died on admission at Mvuma Hospital.
The six were buried today in ward 15, Nyikavanhu area.
