Mugabe receives six new diplomats

President Robert Mugabe received letters of credence from the new ambassadors of Spain, India, Zambia and New Zealand at State House in Harare this Thursday.

The new Spanish ambassador to Zimbabwe is 52 year old Mrs Alicia Moral Revilla.

She holds a law degree from the University of Valladolid and a Masters in International Relations from the Diplomatic School of Madrid.

She has been in the diplomatic service of her country since 1991 and has served in various capacities in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Spain in Tanzania, Jakarta, Netherlands and Bulgaria.

Mr Surinder  Kumar Datta is the new Indian ambassador to Zimbabwe.

He joined the diplomatic service of India in 1985. He has served in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of India in various capacities in Karachi, Muscat, Bonn, Berlin, Indonesia, Slovenia, Australia before this posting as ambassador in Zimbabwe.

Zimbabwe and India share similar views in the Non-Aligned Movement, the United Nations, G77, G15 and other 3rd World groupings.

They also share close ties in the areas of trade, bilateral cooperation and investment.

Mr Mwelwa Ng'ono Chibesakunda is the new Zambian ambassador to Zimbabwe.

He replaces Ms Ndiyoyi Mutiti whose tenure saw the exchange of visits by President Robert Mugabe and his counterpart Mr Edgar Lungu, a reflection of the warm relations between the two neighbours.

Mr Richard Stuart Mann is the new New Zealand ambassador to Zimbabwe.

The New Zealand embassy moved to South Africa at height of the land dispute between Zimbabwe and Britain in 2003 when the EU imposed illegal sanctions against Zimbabwe.

The New Zealand embassy in South Africa represents southern African countries while other African countries were represented from New Zealand embassies outside the continent until the establishment of one in Addis Ababa of late.
