Harare Residents Trust has accused some people whom it named the puppets of the former town Clerk Tendai Mahachi were vilifying the trust unnecessarily.

"Dr Tendai Mahachi's puppets in the Council's Public Relations Department have taken a hostile attitude towards the HRT for being at the forefront of pushing for his ouster from Town House due to high levels of incompetence, mismanagement of council funds and resources," said the Trust.

"Since these puppets, who were clandestinely recruited when the council was in recession by Mahachi, they no longer want the HRT to know of the council's programmes, preferring to only invite the organisation when they want to create false media impressions that they are working with all stakeholders."

The Trsust said it rejects any attempts to personalise Town House affairs by city employees who came through the back door or any other employee for that matter.

"We know them and if they continue we shall be pursuing other useful routes to remove them from positions that affect the relationship of the City of Harare and the HRT," said the Trust.

"It does not matter whether or not they like us in our individual capacities, but they have to serve the public interest of Harare City Council. Information must freely flow from the Council's chambers without hindrance by individuals. It must not be personal but professional, zvekutamba later."
