Harare City Council praised for firing Mahachi

Harare Residents Trust has hailed the Harare City Council Human Resources Committee for ending town Clerk Tendai Mahachi's reign.

"The HRT commends the City of Harare's Human Resources Committee, led by Glen Norah Ward 28 Councillor Wellington Chikombo for recommending the ending of the reign of former Town Clerk Dr Tendai Mahachi, and the full council endorsed that decision yesterday, Thursday during a special full council meeting," said the Trust.

"The HRT celebrates this as one of its greatest achievements in pushing for tangible changes in the running of Harare. But we urge Councillor Chikombo and his team to continue to work towards cutting down on expenditures at Town House where senior council management consume the bulk of the money for salaries and administration, leaving the majority of the employees sharing less than 30 % of the salaries and administration budget."
