MP determined to end early child and forced marriages

Harare West MP Jessie Majome says she has signed a petition and encouraged other MPs to to the same in efforts to end child early and forced marriages.

Majome posted on Facebook that as a member of Parliamentarians for Global Action (PGA)  committed to end early, child and forced marriage she signed the petition and encourage other MPs to do so too.

"In fulfilling my commitment I met the Minister of Justice Mnangagwa who is now Vice President to ask him to bring to Parliament a Bill to align marriage statutes to the ban of child marriages by the Constitution and am working on a draft Bill at his request. I also seconded and debated Hon. Webster Maondera's motion on the government to adopt comprehensive programmes to end child marriages," she said.

"I'm encouraging you to also end early, forced and child marriages, and other MPs to sign the petition. Ask your MP to sign the online commitment too."
