Harare residents Trust says all Harare City Council directors who were asked to resign were paid two months salaries because of the restructuring exercise and the 60 years age limit.
"All the directors who were asked to resign from the City of Harare because of the restructuring exercise and the 60-years age limit were paid two months salaries for each year served," said the trust.
"According to well placed sources in the City of Harare, most of these directors who were below 60 years are living comfortably."
The trust said they were bought out and got hundreds of thousands of dollars, in payments authorised by Dr Tendai Mahachi, the former town clerk.
"On average they earned above $15 000 every month while two others earned around $22 000 a month. The majority had served the council for more than five years, meaning even the least paid of the directors walked away from the council with plus us$150 000," said the trust.
