Pre-paid water meters unfair for residents

Harare Residents Trust has said it it is unfair for the Harare City Council to make residents pay or buy the water meters which go for $250 and $300 per unit What for?

"Why does the council want residents to buy prepaid water meters when residents are failing to pay their bills," said the Trust. "City council is violating the rights of citizens and depriving them of a natural right."

The trust's remarks come in the wake of the council having announced that it has started testing the water meters as a test case for their use in Harare in the near future. Many residents in the city area against the move.
