Auxillia, the wife of Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa is making inroads in her Chirumanzi-Zibagwe Constituency and last week she organised a meeting attended by hundreds of people where she explained the different roles of traditional leaders, councillors, MPs and the District Administrator.
Mnangagwa said development can only take place smoothly if each one of the actors in the process knows the different roles they have to play. She also said that ordinary people need to know those roles in order to know what to expect from those that lead them.
She then went on to explain the roles of each one of them as prescribed by the acts of Parliament. Mnagwagwa used diagrams as she explained to the electorate. After the explanation she invited questions from the floor and sometimes used Government officials to give answers.
"We all have roles to play and they are there in the Acts of Parliament. We must understand these roles first if we have to make an impact on our development programmes. The MP, the chief, headmen, councillor and kraal head are all here to serve you," said Mnangwagwa.
This is not the only foray that Mnangagwa has made in the constituency in recent days. Three weeks ago she was at Mvuma Primary School where she was giving out merit awards to schools, children and teachers who had outstanding performance in 2014.
Mnangawa who appears to be already focussed on the 2018 elections told the crowd that everyone must get an identity card and warned the relevant Government department to ensure that the process is smooth.
"There are thousands of people who failed to vote during the recent by-election in this constituency because they did not have national identity cards. I want everyone to have an identity card and I want everyone to vote in 2018 so that Zanu PF romps back to power. Government officials in the relevant department must ensure that the process of getting Ids is not difficult," said Mnangagwa.
