IN A bid to evade paying up maintenance arrears he owes to his ex-wife, a Mutare man has approached the civil courts seeking for a protection order which bars the latter from visiting his new place of residence.Mutare magistrate,  Anniah Ndiraya presided over the matter.

Nicholas Mudimbu told the court that Catherine Khumalo was very violent. Mudimbu said he had had enough of her endless assaults and insults, even though they had since gone separate ways.

"Your Worship, this violent woman is my ex-wife meaning that she does not belong to me anymore. However, she does not seem to understand that I am done with her because she visits my place of residence and my workplace, disturbing everyone present," he said.

Khumalo differed saying she visited Mudimbu to collect maintenance arrears he owed her.
"When I visited him, I was in the company of police officers who had a warrant of arrest because he owes me maintenance money and they had to have him locked up.

"I was never violent and I wonder why he is lying. He is just trying to evade paying the maintenance arrears," said Khumalo.

A protection order against Khumalo was granted to Mudimbu, which bars the former from visiting the latter's place of residence and workplace. However, Mudimbu was also warned by the court against late maintenance payments.
