Chirumanzu-Zibagwe constituency MP Auxillia Mnangagwa, the vice to Emmerson has described her husband as a loving person who has no time to intimidate rivals.
Auxillia said people who fear the Vice president 'don't really know him'.
"At home with me he is very loving and caring. He is there for me such that when he goes away on duty, I feel lonely because he has turned out to be my best friend. Mnangagwa loves his children so much and has taught them to behave themselves in public and not to be showy. He has also taught them that respecting other people is very important.
"He is a quiet and very soft-spoken man and is very loving. He has no time to intimidate others. Those that fear him don't really know him, and no, I have never feared my husband, he is my best friend," she said in an interview gleaned from the Standard.
On asked on the relationship with the Mphoko's, Auxillia said there was no bad blood.
"We relate with Mai Mphoko very well. We are just like sisters, but there is distance between us in that she stays in Bulawayo and I stay in Harare. However, it has never affected the wonderful relationship we share.
Each time we meet at different functions, we feel very happy in each other's company and we talk a lot" she said.
There has been speculation that Mnangagwa and Mphoko are fighting as the battle to succeed 91-year-old Mugabe continues to escalate.
The war between Presidents Mugabe's two deputies reportedly started to manifest through public fights over seniority.
Mnangagwa's supporters believe their boss is the more senior of the two, despite the party's constitution being silent on the two's ranking in both the party and government.
Mphoko sought to set the record straight by making the position clear while addressing people in Masvingo in May. He had been addressed as second Vice-President by Psychomotor minister Josiah Hungwe and he stood up to dismiss such thinking, saying Mnangagwa and himself were equal..
