President Robert Mugabe has sworn in the Minister of Rural Development, Preservation and Promotion of National Culture and Heritage, Abednico Ncube at a ceremony held at State House this morning.

Ncube, who was re-assigned from his post as Minister of State for Matabeleland South province, missed last Friday's ceremony when the other three new ministers took their oath of office, due to other pressing commitments.

One of the newly appointed ministers, Patrick Zhuwao, also attended the ceremony.

Ncube said he hopes to have a full understanding of what his new portfolio entails after getting a full briefing and will immediately get down to work.

Presidential spokesperson, George Charamba, says this is the first time since the attainment of independence that key institutions that have to do with the people's identity have been brought together so that they operate in a way that is well co-ordinated.

The new ministers sworn in and those re-deployed are expected to beef up the existing cabinet set up and help implement the ten point plan as articulated by President Mugabe.
