Mayor's wife refuses to surrender the Mayoress chain

Chitungwiza Mayor Mr Phillip Mutoti, has filed a case with the police against his former wife, Alice Kuvheya (31), accusing her of refusing to surrender the Mayoress chain she got during the time they were customarily married.
Mayor Mutoti (44) of St Mary's, said he divorced Kuvheya in February this year following their rocky marriage that was characterised by infidelity allegations.
He said other issues before the police include theft of his laptop, which was bought for him by council and violating a reciprocal peace order granted at Chitungwiza Magistrate Courts this year.
"I reported her to the police after she refused to hand over the mayoress chain given to her during the time we were husband and wife. She should hand it back because she is no longer a mayoress.
"She also took my laptop, given to me by council and since I am no longer in love with her, it means she has to surrender what she owes me," said Mayor Mutoti.
Mayor Mutoti said he divorced Kuvheya after their marriage failed to bear any fruit.
"It must be known by the public that Alice is no longer my wife and the respect she is begging from residents as a mayoress does not apply to her. Alice is now an ordinary person following the dissolution of our marriage and should not be accorded any respect. I am single so far," he said.
Mayor Mutoti said Kuvheya was going around misinforming people that she was still married to him.
"On that misrepresentation, she went on to be accorded a red carpet welcome during Seventh Day K-meetings where she addressed a gathering of about 40 000 congregants. By that time, we were still having pending cases at the courts and after I was called to bless their gathering, I sent the deputy mayor Councillor Mushangwa. However, the Clr Mushangwa found her already on the high table promising to give them a lot of things," he alleges.
