Harare Residents Trust has accused the Harare City Council for snubbing
the residents meeting which was slated for 10am at Rugare Railways
Community Hall in Harare on Monday.
The trust said residents waited for the council officials at the venue for a long time and there was no one from the local authority who showed up.
"Meeting was
supposed to be held at 10am in ward 13 at Rugare National Railways
Community Hall, the District Officer was not aware of the meeting, the
Councillor, Peter Moyo was in Zvishavane on personal business when
contacted he said he was not aware of the meeting yet 12 officials had
showed up waiting for him to come and address residents," said the
trust.
"Council is not taking its business seriously!!! the HRT has always demanded that the council states clearly the venue, time, agenda one week before pre-budget consultation meetings are undertaken in communities and that they use a variety of mediums to communicate with residents but to our disappointment the schedule was released 2 days before the commencement date and only one form of media was used (newspapers)."
