Chiyangwa withdraws case

Nine executive members of Ordar Housing Consortium were yesterday freed by the court after the complainant in the fraud allegations against them, businessman Phillip Chiyangwa, withdrew the case following an out-of-court settlement.

The executives, who included Retired Colonel Patson Mabika, Lina Madzinga, Benny Tangai Matenga, Harry Muzondo, Phineas Kudzai Kwangwari, Lawson Vumba, William Machiya, Tonderai Madzivire and Gift Kazetete, had their matter withdrawn before plea by provincial magistrate Elijah Makomo.

The withdrawal of the matter came about after prosecutor Francisca Mukumbiri informed the court that the State intended to withdraw the charges against the accused persons at the behest of the businessman.
