A man from Tobotobo in Insuza allegedly chopped off the hand of a fellow villager after they engaged in a heated dispute over marital issues.

This was heard by the Bulawayo magistrate Charity Maphosa when Khulumane Sithole appeared before her charged with attempted murder of a yet to be identified villager.

He was not asked to plead to the charge and was remanded in custody to September 28.

The court heard that on August 30 2015, Sithole was with the neighbour when they engaged into a heated dispute arguing about marital issues.

Sithole allegedly stormed out of the homestead and armed himself with an axe which he wanted to use to axe the villager on the heard but missed and chopped off the left hand.

The villager fled with the hand dangling loosely only held by flesh and Sithole was in hot pursuit until he was apprehended by the villagers who handed him to the police.
