'We wanted to warn Mugabe'

Opposition MDC MPs have said they could have alerted President Robert Mugabe that he was reading the wrong speech if they had not received death threats.

MDC chief whip Innocent Gonese said seven opposition lawmakers received SMS text messages on their mobile phones warning them not to disrupt Mugabe's address.

The opposition MPs on Wednesday demanded that Speaker of the National Assembly Jacob Mudenda makes an official report to police over the issue but Mudenda said the MPs must individually report to the police.
