Civil Society Today - NANGO has indicated that there has been increasing calls for accountability and transparency by residents from councils in terms of how they are utilising ratepayers funds.
"The quality of services remains a big issue amid reports of huge salaries being enjoyed by senior city council officials.
The case of Mahachi at the Harare City Council left a lot to be desired on council priorities relating to resource allocations," NANGO said.
"It is on this background that the Zimbabwe National Budget Coalition (ZNBC) informs you that the Harare city council shall be hosting pre-budget consultations this weekend (19-20 September) in all the wards.
"The organisation said these will be chaired by the councillors and data gathered will inform the 2016 Council Budget.
"Citizen participation is critical to ensure that priority is given to essential cost centres and there is optimum utilisation of ratepayers resources by city fathers. In this regard please find attached a detailed schedule relating to these consultative meetings," it said.
"Please make all efforts to participate and share with your members and network partners for the same purpose."
