Vendor up for stealing chewing gums

An aspiring 25 year old Harare vendor stole 35 boxes of chewing gun to start up his business.
Thompson Hungwe was in court for stealing the boxes valued at $77 at Spar supermarket in Braeside.
Hungwe told the court that he had been a broom vendor until the City council declared its war against vendors.
"I used to sell brooms, but when the city council took my brooms l was left with no option but to steal chewing gum to raise money to order more brooms to sale," he said.
He was handed a community service sentence after he pleaded guilty by magistrate Kudzai Zihove.
