Harare has entered into a twinning arrangement with the Chinese city of Guangzhou, a development that will see the two cities exchange notes.
Talks of a twinning arrangement between Harare and Guangzhou began in 2011 when the Guangzhou Mayor wrote to the then Harare Mayor Muchadei Masunda.
The vision has now become a reality and Harare Mayor Benard Manyenyeni is confident benefits will be accrued from the twinning arrangement with Guangzhou.
"This twinning is going to benefit us more because the Chinese mean business and we will tap from their transport and housing systems," he said.
Harare has other twinning arrangements with 22 other cities across the world.
Harare has benefitted from its twinning arrangements with Munich, which has been providing technological assistance.
During the cholera outbreak in 2008, Munich supplied medical sundries.
