Two dead, 33 injured in kombi crash

Two passengers died on the spot and 33 others were injured when a kombi made a U-turn in front of another kombi near the Grain Marketing Board headquarters along Samora Machel Avenue in Harare on Saturday.
Acting police staff officer Press and public relations in the office of the Commissioner- General of Police, Chief Superintendent Paul Nyathi confirmed the accident yesterday.
"The Zimbabwe Republic Police would like to confirm the death of two people at the intersection of Samora Machel Avenue and Bodle Avenue near GMB headquarters on Saturday September 26 at around 4pm," he said.
Chief Supt Nyati said a Toyota Hiace with an unknown number of passengers was travelling southwards along Bodle Avenue when it suddenly made a U-turn in front of another one travelling westwards along Samora Machel Avenue. Chief Supt Nyathi urged kombi drivers to obey road rules and regulations to safe guard their lives and that of the passengers.
