MDC Youth Assembly has attacked newly appointed Minister of Youth, Indigenization and Economic Development, Patrick Zhuwao and labelled him a hypocrite for urging youths to put pressure on government over the promised 2.2 million jobs.
Last week, Zhuwao said youths a are "pain" within the governance of a country which should prompt the Executive to act.
The Zanu PF government in its 2013 election manifesto promised to create 2,2 million jobs in five years.
But the country has instead since then witnessed massive job losses and company closures as the economy continues on a downward spiral.
However, MDC Youth Assembly National Spokesperson, Brighton Makunike said Zhuwao insulted the country's young stock.
"The recent remarks by the Minister of Youth, Indigenization and Economic Development, Patrick Zhuwao, in which he suggests that youths should put pressure on government over the promised 2.2 million jobs when he should be providing the youths with answers over the jobs are an insult and hypocrisy of the highest order which should be condemned with all the contempt they deserve" he said in statement.
"The remarks prove to us that Mr Zhuwao has very low regard for the youths of Zimbabwe, whom he views as idiots with very short memories. Lest it be forgotten, Zhuwao is part of the same ZANU PF government which promised us the 2.2 million jobs and he personally campaigned vigorously for ZIMASSET.
"He is in essence part author to the deep misery that afflicts the youths of Zimbabwe today. The fact that the over excited Zhuwao now thinks he can pull a fast one on Zimbabweans by trying to portray himself as the Messiah of the youths through dubious calls is clear indication that he needs to have his brain examined".
Makunike said it is folly for any sane person to believe that ZANU PF still has any bone marrow needed to recover our ailing economy.
"It is crystal clear that the people in power, masquerading as our government are all expired products and have outlived their life span in power shelves".
He said his appointment to the ministry "is a desperate attempt to revive false hope in the bungling ZANU PF government. Sadly, with such dubious moves no amount of gloating and cheerleading would convince the suffering youths of today that the nonagenarian leader and his entire entourage in government will offer anything new to the nation".
