A 20-year-old man who claimed to be a gate master at Dynamos FC appeared in court yesterday accused of three counts of drug possession. Magistrate Mr Elijah Makomo ruled that he pays a total of $60 in fines for the three counts by Friday or spend 15 days in jail.
Mario Junior Besa pleaded guilty to three counts of possessing dagga, Broncleer and diazepam (valium) tablets without prescription. In mitigation, he told the court that he was employed at Dynamos FC as a gate master earning $400 a month.
The State alleged that on August 25 this year Constable Zwihwati stationed at Highlands Police Station in Harare alighted from a kombi at Simon Muzenda (Fourth Street) bus terminus where he saw Besa consuming Broncleer cough syrup.
Cst Zwihwati identified himself before recovering the bottle, which was half full.
He further searched Besa and recovered one sachet of loose dagga and seven by 10 milligrammes of diazepam (valium) tablets from the left side pocket of his short.
